I think there is some saying, "don't count your chickens before they hatch?" I completely get what that means.
I prematurely complained about how much I hate winter all because of what it did to my precious coke.
The next day I woke up to this:
That is the ceiling from the tee vee room in the basement. What you can't see is the bubble of water being held in by the plastic something or other. Sadly it did not hold in all the water. It leaked. All over my carpet, all over my love sack, all over my book shelf and thats just what happened downstairs. Upstairs it got on my wood floors, under my cabinets and even into the front room.
I hate winter.
For four days after I felt like we were reliving the last scenes from ET. We had tubes and contraptions all over the place and we couldn't even hear each other.
Like so many people this winter, we had a pipe freeze on us. Stupid winter.
The Saturday it happened I was this close to going postal, but we had a crew over within hours helping get it dried. It was difficult for me to sit and watch them just ripping out so much of my house, I even made a trip to Costco just to get out of the house. Who goes to Costco on a Saturday?
We were into the mess by about 3 days. We still had a ton of fans and crap all through the house. It was starting to dry but we had this smell that made me want to puke. Jack came home from school and said it smelled like a "giant fart."
At this point I was about to light a match and let the house whole go down, because even if we could fix it all, would it be worth it if we were to live in a giant fart house?
The smell either went away or we became accustomed to it. I am hoping it went away.
I hate winter.
The day of the mess, after all the stinky clean up guys left, who bless their hearts asked each time they came in if they should take off their shoes (I told them it wouldn't make any difference and I hate shoes being worn in my house. Hate it, almost as much as winter.) we went out for dinner.
It was nothing fancy but apparently fancy enough for the governor. The restaurant was so slow, probably because they were feeding the governor! We were making small talk with the kids. We were asking them what they each wanted to be. Zoe wanted to be a dancer or a mom, I guess she can't be both, which is pretty accurate. Pete wants to be a doctor, a surgeon which is so amazing coming from the kid who once hated school. Tom was too cool to hang out with us so we don't know but Jack does know what he wants to be.
"So Jack, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
He rubbed his forehead and gave us an answer.
"I think I am just going to let my wife work!"
Smartest. Kid. Ever!

Oh man, I am so sorry. That sucks so bad!!! It's nice how the kids can distract us from all that frustration. I would still come over to your giant fart house. LOL
Oh no!! I'm soooo sorry! What a pain!!
Jack is too cute!!! :)
Jack is awesome! Great response! That's my husband's opinion but then he doesn't want to stay home with the kids either so we're at a draw. LOL
Sorry about your leak. What a mess. I hope you get back to your normal living and smelling experience soon.
Love ya! :)
